Please see below a news release from ICW Global following their
Strategic Planning and Partnership meeting last week in Nairobi,
Kenya. GNP+ is proud to be a partner of ICW Global and looks forward
to continuing to work together in order to effect change in the lives
of women living with HIV.

October 31, 2013 Nairobi Kenya

The International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW Global) is
excited to announce a landmark meeting in Nairobi, Kenya which sees
the evolution of the strategic direction to reflect the changing
times.

Significantly, all ten regions were represented by the International
Steering Committee, including regional and global staff at the
Strategic Planning and Partnership Meeting. By majority vote, the
historic decision was made that ICW Global will register as an
independent organisation in Nairobi, Kenya.

“I am so excited and proud to have been able to work together with
these strong amazing women living with HIV from all around the world.
A meeting like this has not happened since 2009,” said Jessica
Whitbread, Global Chair of ICW. “ We’ve worked hard this year to
reinvigorate the network and put ICW back on the map.”

ICW Global is the only global network for and by women living with
HIV. During this meeting, the International Steering Committee
revisited its vision, mission and core values. This marks a new
exciting chapter in the long history of ICW Global, reinforcing the
critical role of women living with HIV in the global response.

“Women living with HIV in Kenya are honored to have the ICW Global
come to Nairobi. It will inspire women to get more involved in global
advocacy,” said Teresia Njoki Otieno, ICW East Africa Chair.

*Vision*

ICW envisions a world where all women living with HIV live their lives
free of gender oppression, realizing and claiming their full rights
inclusive of sexual, reproductive, legal, economic and health rights.

*Mission*

We are a network that leads in securing and improving the quality of
life for women living with HIV through mobilizing, organizing,
advocating, mentoring and raising consciousness on the issues that
directly impact our lives.

The partners and donors in attendance were keen to see the priorities
of women living with HIV highlighted in global policy spaces. ICW
Global and partners made commitments to work more closely alongside
each other to this end.

“GNP+ looks forward to exploring new opportunities to collaborate
with ICW Global on the issues most critical to women living with
HIV”, said Adam Garner, Global Advocacy Manager of the Global
Network of People living with HIV.

Jessica Whitbread said, “This meeting has reconfirmed my belief in
the unique value that ICW Global brings to the movement and the power
of women working together. We are ICW!”
