COMMUNICATION: LEADERSHIP CHANGE – GNP+

FROM THE CO-CHAIRS

As of today Dr Kevin Moody has announced his intention to step down as
International Coordinator / CEO of Global Network of People Living
with HIV (GNP+), effective October 1, 2013.

The Co-Chairs would like to thank Dr Kevin Moody and reflect on his
leadership and what he has achieved in the past seven years.

Kevin joined a nearly bankrupt GNP+ seven years ago. Through his
leadership and the dedicated work of the GNP+ team, the organisation
has become financially stable and has developed systems to ensure
accountability of its programmes. Kevin’s leadership assisted the
Board to achieve new direction, greater visibility of the organisation
and engagement of people living with HIV in policy making at the
global level.

Anna {akowicz, GNP+ Co-Chair states, “GNP+ is in a much better place
as an organisation than it was seven years ago. Kevin’s commitment,
dedication, expertise and technical skills have benefited the quality
of life of people living with HIV and brought GNP+ respect and support
from partners”.

Some of the successes during Dr Moody’s tenure include:

· Successful bid for the UK’s Governance and Transparency Fund: GBP
4 million over 5 years to implement the Leadership Through
Accountability Programme that pioneered GNP+’s “learning by
doing” model.

· LIVING 2008 and LIVING 2012, the XII and XIII International people
living with HIV conferences, that set the stage for PLHIV input into
issues such as positive prevention that led to Positive Health Dignity
and Prevention and the Global Advocacy Agenda.

· The Strategic Review of 2010 that led to the Strategic Plan
2011-2015 and restructuring at the Secretariat as well as at the
Board.

· The recognition of GNP+ as the “go-to” network of people living
with HIV for technical consultations on guidelines and guidance,
especially on treatment regimens and vertical transmission.

“Kevin’s leadership has enabled and facilitated the voice of
people living with HIV being heard at the global level and
communicating issues relevant to our communities”, says GNP+
Co-Chair Anuar Luna.

“I am proud of the achievements of the GNP+ team and my
contributions to GNP+’s successes. I’m leaving the organisation in
a healthy and sustainable situation and I am looking forward to new
challenges in my future career”, says Kevin Moody.

GNP+ is pleased to support Kevin in his decision to move on and are
proud of his accomplishments. GNP+ will announce a new position of
“Executive Director” in the coming weeks – to begin in October
– and we are looking forward to receiving applications from highly
qualified candidates who will further solidify GNP+’s position in
the global response to HIV.

Anna {akowicz and Anuar Luna,

Co-Chairs GNP+
