[Viva] Website

Great questions Kecia. I will address all your questions one by one.

The story behind the website...

I was so inspired by the media Margarite has brought in and the plug for VIVA and the Virtual Support Groups we are bringing to life. So I sat down last Saturday and spent the whole day and night building a website for VIVA. Margarite spent a great deal of the day on the phone with me working out the domain name and hosting. Dr. Pick heard of what we were doing with the website and she offered for Oak Tree Clinic to pay for it.

The current content was inspired by the VIVA picture on the website. Margarite came across this on her travels to Latin America. I added some rough white lines to brighten the picture up. I extracted colours from the picture to create the colour scheme. I do feel this website design may not be the feel VIVA wants to go for. It is a bit cold and masculine.

What is going to be on the website?

This website is for you, VIVA Women. It is what we want it to be.

What content will be there?

The content that is currently there is from suggestion I have already received through here and our project management program.

Is there going to be a committee set up to decide this new development so all VIVA Women have a say; or is this designated for someone already?

The working group has been canvassed with some template ideas through our project management system and we are working recreating the website now. If there is anyone on the listserv that would like to be more involved with the website, please let us know. Once the working group has narrowed the ideas down to under 3 ideas, we can send out a poll to the listserv, so everyone can choose which one they feel best suites VIVA Women.

If you do not want to be intensively involved with the website you can still provide feedback to me at shan.carlisle at gmail.com directly or on the listserv.

Do we have a TOR for this process?

No terms of reference have been developed.

I hope this has fully addresses your questions and any concerns,

Shannon Carlisle

That is fantastic that they are paying for it. We need each other, without us there is no clinic.

Glad to see, Oak Tree, stepping up to the plate to support women's work; as they should. Thank you to the women of ViVa, big and small "in the movement", who have all contributed to it!

          Hi VIVA Women,

I just wanted to announce that Oak Tree Clinic has offered to pay for our website hosting and domain name.

A thank you letter will be drafted and submitted to Dr. Pick and Oak Tree Clinic for their continued support of VIVA.

          Take care,

          Shannon Carlisle
