Dear friends and colleagues,

I regret to inform you that Ken Buchanan, former Chair of the Positive Living Society of BC and fervent champion of the HIV community, lost his long battle with cancer on the afternoon of April 15th. He passed on in the company of friends and loved ones.

Ken will be sorely missed by those of us who had the pleasure of working with him in furtherance of empowerment, equality and good health for people living with HIV. Thankfully, Ken’s spirit survives in the work we do today: he was instrumental in forging a new, hopeful identity for HIV-positive culture in the age of advanced treatment and care.

Plans for Ken’s memorial are yet to be announced. I will update you when such information is made available to me. In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you wish to send your condolences to Ken’s family and his partner, William.
