Subject: A Webinar on Bringing Research Back to Communities: December 11,
2012
Dear CHIWOS BC CAB members,
I hope this email finds you all well.
I'm writing to invite you to participate in an upcoming webinar called
"Bringing
Research Back to Communities: A Webinar on HIV Knowledge Translation Using
CHIWOS as a Case Study". The webinar includes a previously recorded 30
minute video, followed by a live online roundtable discussion with the
presenters (Stephanie Rawson Valerie Nicholson, Andrea Langlois and myself)
on Tuesday December 11th 2012 from 10-11 AM PST.
This webinar will explore Knowledge Translation (KT), using CHIWOS as an
example of a research project that involves an integrated KT approach. As
part of this webinar, we also share some preliminary reflections on the
meaning of ‘women-centred care’ from our focus groups with women living
with HIV in British Columbia this past year.
For more information, please see the poster below (or attached), or follow
this link:
http://pacificaidsnetwork.org/news/sign-up-bringing-research-back-to-communities-webinar/.
The 30-minute video will be posted online soon and is open for viewing by
the public at any time. If you'd like to attend the online discussion on
Dec 11th, however, you'll need to register using this link (and the
capacity is set at 50 participants, so sign up soon if you'd like to
participate!).
Please feel free to share this invitation with others who you think may be
interested to participate but were missed on this email.
Thank you and we'll be in touch soon.
Best,
Allie

[image: Title: Bringing Research Back to Communities Webinar - Description:
Moving research into policy, programs and practice is vital to
community-based HIV research. Knowledge translation (KT) bridges the gap
between researchers and communities and ensures that results get shared
with those who can use them. This webinar will explore KT, using the
Canadian HIV Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Cohort Study (CHIWOS)
as an example of a research project that involves an integrated KT
approach. ABOUT THE PRESENTERS: Andrea Langlois is the Community-Based
Research Manager for the Pacific AIDS Network. Valerie Nicholson is the BC
Peer Research Associate & National Management Team Community Representative
for CHIWOS. Allison Carter is the BC Research Coordinator for CHIWOS.
Stephanie Rawson is the British Columbia Peer Research Associate for
CHIWOS. How to participate? Participants will view a 30-minute video
presentation and then gather online on Tuesday, December 11 at 10am (PST)
for a roundtable discussion with the presenters about best practices.
