*1. AIDS 2012 IN SPANISH *

While English is the official language of AIDS 2012, conference organizers
are working hard to ensure that the conference is fully accessible to
Spanish-speaking delegates. The complete AIDS 2012 website is available in
Spanish and all pre-conference communications, including these monthly
e-Updates, are distributed in both languages.

Simultaneous translation into Spanish will be provided for most conference
sessions, except workshops, oral poster discussions and satellite sessions,
and most of the official printed publications will be translated into
Spanish too, including the daily on-site news bulletin and press releases.
Spanish language media kits will be provided and simultaneous translation
will be available on request for press conferences in the largest of three
press conference rooms.

*2. APPLY FOR YOUR VISA NOW!*

Conference organizers strongly recommend that potential AIDS 2012 delegates
visit the website of the U.S. embassy/consulate in their country as soon as
possible to learn about the specific U.S. immigration processes and timing
that will apply to them.

*All visa applications should be made no later than 90 days before
travelling to the U.S. (i.e. no later than mid-April 2012 for conference
delegates)*. Please note that the visa interview wait time at some
embassies is even longer than 90 days.

*3. SATELLITE SESSION AND EXHIBITION SPACE APPLICATIONS REMAIN OPEN*

Satellite sessions take place in the conference centre but are fully
organized and coordinated by the organization hosting the satellite
(private company, government agency, institution or NGO). The contents and
speakers of the satellite sessions will be reviewed to ensure that they
meet the scientific and ethical principles of the conference.

*4. ORGANIZE A CONFERENCE HUB IN YOUR REGION: SUBMISSIONS OPEN ON 14 MARCH*

Providing a unique opportunity to build professional capacities among local
stakeholders and strengthen the local HIV response, these "mini
conferences" can be held by organizations active in the AIDS response.

Sessions from the conference will be recorded and available free of charge
for selected applicants and can be screened at the organizers' discretion.

*5. AIDS 2012 VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS OPEN ON 1 APRIL *

Volunteering at AIDS 2012 is a great way to gain international experience
at the world's largest conference on AIDS and to unite in the response to
HIV. Furthermore, the success of AIDS 2012 depends heavily on the support
of between 1,500 and 2,000 volunteers who will help coordinate programme
activities, greet visiting delegates, assist with registration, act as
guides during the conference, staff various offices and activities, help in
the Global Village and perform other crucial tasks.

*6. REGISTER BY 3 MAY TO AVOID LAST MINUTE SURCHAGE*

The standard registration fee ended on 23 February and delegates are now
encouraged to register *by 3 May* to avoid the last minute fee surcharge,
which begins on 4 May. If the completed registration form, the payment in
full and the required supporting documents (if applicable) are received on
or before 3 May 2012, a conference bag and other conference materials
including the conference programme and the abstract CD-ROM are guaranteed.
If the completed registration form and/or the full payment and/or the
required supporting documents (if applicable) are received after 3 May 2012
(including onsite registrations), the conference organizers cannot
guarantee that a conference bag and other conference materials will be
available. All conference bags and conference materials will be handed out
onsite.

All registrations for AIDS 2012 must be submitted using the online
registration form. Before you can register, you need to create a conference
profile. If you don't have a conference profile already, please click

*8. FLIGHTS TO WASHINGTON, D.C., HOTEL ACCOMMODATION AND TOURS*

Individual and group flight bookings can be made online through the AIDS
2012 website. For more information on booking flights to Washington, D.C.,

A large number of hotel rooms in various price categories have been secured
in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore at preferential rates. Please visit

bookings. Early bookings are highly recommended. Please note that as of 16
May 2012 a late booking fee of USD 60 will apply to all bookings.

Washington, D.C. hotels: From the conference hotels that are not within
walking distance or are not on the metro line, transportation by shuttle
buses from some pick up points to the Walter E. Washington Convention
Center and back are included in the room rates.

Baltimore hotels: Transportation by shuttle bus (Sunday 22 July) and train
(Monday 23 - Friday 27 July) from Baltimore to the Walter E. Washington
Convention Center are included in the room rates. Please note that it can
take up to 1h45 to commute from Baltimore hotels to the Walter E.
Washington Convention Center.

Nominations are now open for a regional civil society member organization
to join and have one seat on the Conference Coordinating Committee (CCC),
the highest governing body of the International AIDS Conference, for the
next two conferences, AIDS 2014 and AIDS 2016. Nominations close on *30
