It used to be a lot easier but nowadays so many people apply and priority goes (rightly so) to people from resource limited countries. But still worth applying because you never know! Last conference I scraped together funding/support from 5 sources which was a lot of work but it was an amazing experience. Even if you just get yourself to Washington and attend the Global Village alone it’s very exciting and empowering. See more about global village on the website.
Time to get outside – I love this chilly invigorating snowy weather! J

For anyone who is applying.... on the applications they usually want to know what your involvement in the HIV community is and how you will bring what you learn back to share with people in your region.
Just a thought.....
You can send ViVA updates during the conference and/or write an article about your experience at the conference. Girl Talk, in the Positive Living magazine would love to have an article from one or more positive women who attend and that would reach all the members of PL society.

ps Kathy I think you will find lots of interesting things in the schedule regarding mental health. Once the Conference Programme comes out you can do a search for workshops and seminars on any subject that interest you.

Kathy, I totally agree with you, the mental illness aspect is really not talked about enough and I think it would make a great abstract too!

Thanks denise. :-)
I also would like to bring my extensive personal expeience w mental illness to the table. I have noticed that it is a neglected topic in hiv circles and yet some of us must suffer from one diagnosis or another. Not to mention the fact that if you are on any psych meds plus art, there is no long term effects measured to date.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks
Kathy

As far as I know, they always are keen on getting women and those with children/from aboriginal communities/rural areas are probably given extra points.

It would be great to see some ViVA members apply.
