The ICAD Board and Staff is profoundly saddened by the passing of Dr. Robert
Carr.


Among his many contributions, Robert was Director of Policy and Advocacy at
the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO), the first
ever Caribbean Delegate to the NGO Delegation to the UNAIDS Programme
Coordinating Board, a member of the UNAIDS Human Rights Reference Group, a
long standing Board Member of the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and a
co-chair of the Global Forum on Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM) and HIV,
which he co-founded.  He previously served as Executive Director of both
Jamaica AIDS Support for Life and the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities
Coalition.


ICAD was privileged to work closely with Robert in both the Caribbean and
Canada, and valued his critical analysis, his staunch support of human
rights, as well as his gentleness and humour.


He leaves us and the Global AIDS Response way too soon, and he will be
missed.

Le conseil d’administration et le personnel de la CISD sont très peinés du
décès du Dr Robert Carr.



Entre autres nombreuses contributions, Robert était directeur des politiques
et du plaidoyer pour le Conseil international des ONG de lutte contre le
sida (ICASO), a été le tout premier délégué caraïbe à la Délégation d’ONG
auprès du Comité de coordination de programme de l’ONUSIDA, faisait partie
du Groupe de référence de l’ONUSIDA sur les droits de l’homme, siégeait
depuis maintes années au conseil d’administration du Réseau juridique
canadien VIH/sida, et coprésidait le Forum mondial sur le VIH et les hommes
qui ont des rapports sexuels avec des hommes, dont il fut cofondateur. Il
était, antérieurement, directeur général de Jamaica AIDS Support for Life
ainsi que de la Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition.



La CISD, qui a eu le privilège de travailler en étroite collaboration avec
Robert dans la région caraïbe ainsi qu’au Canada, appréciait son sens de
l’analyse critique, son appui indéfectible aux droits humains, sa douceur et
son humour.



Il nous a quittés beaucoup trop tôt, laissant un grand vide dans le milieu
de la riposte au VIH/sida dans le monde. Il nous manquera.
