Thanks for sending this, Shelly.

The Board has nothing to do with approving articles for Positive Living magazine. They are approved by the magazine committee and Jeff Rotin helps edit them (I know from personal experience that he makes us all look good!!). I think the key is to put an article suggestion to Shelly, myself or Jeff Rotin at jeffr at positivelivingbc.org. I know there have to be some budding writers out there and why not give it a try? It is easy not to appear at any meetings and say no one is willing to hear your side but this is a part of the magazine especially set aside for us and it was hard to get the Committee to do that because I did hear arguments to set aside sections for other groups too. We made a case as to why women should be heard. OBVIOUSLY... if you are going to write from a personal viewpoint then you want to add to the total reader experience... for example, if I wrote about my friend who has a sister who has an illness and how HIV is sucking funds from them, then that would be highly unlikely to make it into the magazine and would best be left for the Positive Gathering!!! LOL

If you are worried about anonymity then you can always suggest an idea to Shelly or I and we will check out how to do it anonymously.

Hi everyone,

I will be attending the editorial board meeting this Monday and wondered if anyone had a topic and a burning desire to write an article for Girl Talk. (Living Positive magazine)This would be for the fall issue, and strongly encourage anyone out there who has an idea or issue to write about to send an email and let me know. (Prior to Monday would be great if possible) The Board has to approve the topic in advance so, if you have a few different topics, all the better.

Both Margarite and myself are very interested in ensuring that anyone who would like to take on writing an article knows that they will have both of our time and support to assist with the process and ensure deadlines are met.

Hope to hear from anyone interested, and wish everyone well.
kindest regards,
Shelly
