[Viva] replies re. running for the Board of Positive Living BC

Hi Denise,
    Sorry I did not reply to your email sooner but until yesterday, I've not been on line for quite a while. As for sitting on a board of Living Positive, my reasons for not running are as follows. C, G, L and don't have the extra energy. Just to clarify answer G, I spent many years actively working with multiple HIV/AIDS organizations including BCPWA, AIDS Vancouver and PWN. As a matter of fact I was on the Board of BCPWA in the early 90's for aprox a year when I agreed to finish serving a leaving board members term, I chose not to run for the Board the following year. I also was on the Board of PWN in the early 90's but chose to resign for reasons I won't go into here. At present I am living on Salt Spring and am busy in my life... I have a husband who has also been living with HIV for 27 years at least (I've been 26 years) and though all things considered, we're both doing quite well, we do have health issues which have bearing on my energy level and lack of desire to be too involved in committments which would require time I may not have to give. Therefore, I would not be interested in running. I just wanted to be clear that my answer G was not because I wasn't interested in Positive Living as an organization....I just have interest elsewhere.   I have not received any replies regarding running for the Board of Positive Living BC.  This interests me and I am not sure what to make of it.  Quite often in Board meetings, I tell the Board that they need to include women and reach out to them to run on the Board.  They have told me that they have in the past and there is no interest.  It is hard to push for women's retreats, women focussed articles in Positive Living magazine, and other things when I am the only one on the Board.


  So, I need to understand where you all are coming from.  I have listed below some reasons that you might not be interested in joining the Board and would appreciate you either just typing a reply with an a, b, or e, etc.(you can choose more than one) or letting me know another reason.  Then I will have a good handle on the whole issue.
