Looks very interesting¡important documentary to be made!

The Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network: Women & Criminalization Documentary
Project

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS (Deadline: July 10th, 2011)

Are you a woman who has been directly or indirectly affected by the
criminalization of HIV exposure? Do you have a personal story to tell about
how the criminal law around HIV non©\disclosure relates to you? Do you want
to make your voice heard on this important issue?

More and more, women in Canada ¨C both HIV©\positive and not ¨C are being
affected by the legal requirement to reveal HIV©\positive status to sexual
partners. Sometimes it is really hard to know what the criminal law requires
of a person living with HIV, and we are seeing more people (men and women)
being taken to court for charges of nondisclosure (i.e., not telling).

If you¡¯ve been affected, please consider being a part of an important
documentary project exploring this complex issue.

The Project Team

The Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network is working with filmmaker Alison Duke,
who has a lot of experience working with community groups. She is passionate
about telling the stories of women, including women living with HIV and
issues that are important to them. The Project Team also includes several
expert advisors from the community, and The African and Caribbean Council on
HIV/AIDS in Ontario (ACCHO) (Toronto), COCQSIDA (Montr¨¦al), and Positive
Women¡¯s Network (Vancouver).

The Documentary

Working with the community, the project team wants to make a documentary
that will give voice to women who want to be heard on this important topic.
We¡¯re hoping to tell the stories of 3©\5 women who are willing to share
their experiences to help others understand how criminalizing HIV non©\
disclosure isn¡¯t necessarily helpful for women and can make disclosing even
more difficult.

Are you interested?

If you think you may be interested in being part of this documentary
project, we would like to speak with you. Send us an email to
documentary at aidslaw.ca or call Janet at the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network
at 416©\595©\1666 ext. 228. We will then tell you more about the project,
including the time commitment and the selection process we will use so that
the documentary will represent different women with different stories, from
many different backgrounds. (Please note that participating in the
documentary project does not necessarily require disclosing your identity on
camera.)

If you think you may want to participate, please email or phone the project
team by July 10, 2011.
