Hello Tolu and other Oak Tree patients,
I had an appt at Oak Tree last week as well. I was expecting to see Dr Pick
(for just the 2nd time ever) however I was very upset to hear she wasn't
there and I would be seeing a brand new doctor. Needless to say, at the
best of times it is challenge to change HIV specialists and when you throw
other health complications and peri-menopause into the mix, I must admit I
was also weeping! BUT the silver lining for me was that I ended up really
liking the doctor I saw, Jane Cunningham! She was very caring and competent
and has applied for a permanent position at Oak Tree so I am crossing my
fingers!
So I tell myself (and others) Hang in there... transitions are tough but
we'll get through it!
Be well, Kath

Subject: [Viva] How I wept
Last Wednesday I went for my routine quarterly appointment at Oaktree... and
oh how I wep,t and still weep, for Dr B.
I wont bore you with the details, but what came to light, that is now
missing, is the unwavering confidence in which garrisoned the clinic, the
deep deep understanding of womens issues relation to HIV, beyond what each
and everyone of us can ever fathom. The willingness to stand rock solid
behind any one of us when it comes to an informed medical opinion, whilst
guaranteeing all aspects of our privacy and confidentiality, again even in
ways we could ever ask or imagine. Much as I love the concept and
uniqueness of the Oaktree, I actually considered what were my other options!
Anyway all said and done the other doctor who has so experience at the
clinic is on vacation.... hence it was all newbies on the block.
I breath deeply and hope and pray this was just a passing phase and not the
new trend.
You are in my thoughts today.... thanks for being there, away... I hope
real soon we get to share that cherished smile, that bubbly laugh, those
heart felt moments, that have made our friendship what it is! Stay Blessed.
