Dear friends,****
** **
Hope you’re doing well. ****
The Global Forum on MSM & HIV (MSMGF) currently serves as one of two North
American delegates on the NGO Delegation to the UNAIDS Programme
Coordinating Board (PCB). Each year, the NGO Delegation prepares a report
to bring community perspectives to the UNAIDS PCB, helping to inform the
PCB’s programs and policies. This year’s report will be themed around HIV
and the legal environment.****
As an NGO delegate for the North American region, the MSMGF is gathering
input from our region for incorporation into the report. As part of this
process, we would like to invite you to participate in a focus group
targeting transgender people from Canada and the United States! ****
** **
The focus group offers an opportunity to share your experiences with access
to prevention and treatment as well as suggestions for policies and programs
to be included in the NGO Delegation’s report to the UNAIDS PCB. We would
love for you to take part! We are especially interested in hearing from
transgender women who are people of color, immigrant, or living with HIV,
and/or transgender people with experience concerning drug use, sex work
and/or incarceration.****
** **
The focus group will be convened via teleconference on *August 16, 2011 at 8
AM PST (11 AM EST)*. If you are interested in participating, please email
MSMGF Policy Associate Mohan Sundararaj at msundararaj at msmgf.org for further
details. ****
** **
A maximum of 15 participants can participate in the group, so if you are
interested please get back to us ASAP while there is still space! ****
** **
We hope you will join us and give UNAIDS policy-makers the opportunity to
learn from your experiences and suggestions for using the law to build a
meaningful response to HIV among transgender people in North America.****
** **
Sincerely,****
Mohan
On behalf of the MSMGF team****
