*Job Posting –Street Market Fundraiser/Coordinator*

*Purpose of the Position:*  To work for the Vancouver Area Network of Drug
Users (VANDU) to manage and expand the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood
Council (DNC)’s Street Market currently happening every Sunday at Pigeon
Park.



*Responsibilities: ** Reporting to the Director of VANDU and clearing all
activities with the DTES Street Market Committee, the Street Market
Fundraiser/Coordinator will:  *

* *

1.             Organize members of the street market committee to take
leadership of the project; and organize other committees as necessary;

2.             Recruit, train, mentor and supervise volunteers;

3.             Work with community partners to program and enliven the
market;

4.             Increase the number of DTES vendors at the market and
increase buyers with publicity;

5.             Expand the market to operate 2-3 days a week in 2011; develop
a proposal to open the market daily;

6.             Fundraise to pay for assistants and volunteers supports like
stipends; secure in kind donations: equipment etc;

7.             Conduct evaluation and write reports to funders; and,

8.             Do all administration for the project: keep accurate record
of expenditures, prepare invoices and arrange payments; set up an office.

*Qualifications:*

   - *Recognize that everyone has gifts to share and can contribute to the
   project doing the things that they love to do as volunteers or paid staff;
   *
   - *Good social knowledge of the DTES neighbourhood;*
   - *Ability to work in a team and on own, and with a community board;***
   - *Ability to fundraise to sustain the project;*
   - *Excellent verbal and written communication skills;*
   - *Ability to use computer for research, emails, formatting and designing
   flyers and proposals;*
   - *Ability to develop excellent relations with community partners; *
   - *Willing to develop this social enterprise and work with residents to
   reach their social justice goals;***
   - *Able to work evenings and weekends as needed; and,***
   - *Ability to be self directed and to “make things happen.”*

*Conditions of Contract: *


This contract begins April 17, 2011th.  Salary is $25/hour full time for 3
months with the possibility of extension based on funding and evaluation.  *We

who are “visible” minorities, Downtown Eastside residents or Downtown
Eastside natural community members.  *
