NEW PUBLIC EDUCATION PROJECT:

YOUR INPUT IS REQUESTED

==============================================

"PRIVACY RIGHTS AND YOUR PERSONAL HEALTH INFORMATION"

We are working on a new e-health education project and, if you or your

organization are concerned in any way with the topic of privacy and medical

records, we want your input!

Thanks to funding from the Law Foundation of BC, we are building a simple

website to give the public objective, balanced information about privacy
rights,

electronic health records and the health information system across BC.

What information do you think should be included on the website?

Please come to our Stakeholder's meeting at the People's Law School in

Vancouver and let us know.

Thursday, November 18, 7 pm

People's Law School

Suite 150 - 900 Howe Street, Vancouver

The purpose of the website is to promote greater public awareness around
these

issues, not to take a "pro" or "con" position. We hope to make the
information as

complete as possible, yet ensure the simplicity of the communication.

We think the website should include basic information about:

1.	How the e-health systems are intended to work and the laws that
apply
2.	How and why personal health information is collected, used and
disclosed through the health sector
3.	What privacy rights people have in relation to their health
information
4.	How individuals can get access to their own health records
5.	Disclosure directives and other mechanisms for limiting access to
records
6.	Links to other sources of information on e-health and privacy issues
in BC

As a stakeholder, you can help us get a balanced view of the issues and

give your input about what information should be included, how it should be

presented and what downloadable materials should be available.

Hope to see you at the:

People's Law School at 7pm on November 18.

Please pass this along to anyone you think might be interested.
