*A huge call went out to sportsmen, artists, politicians, businessmen, union
men and journalists who participated in the ICW Global’s Annual Dinner at
the Four Season Hotel on Monday October 25.*

EXTENDING THE GLOBAL SOCIAL AIDS RESPONSE

“Since its appearance, AIDS has killed almost the same amount of people as
the total number of victims from fields of battle of the First and Second
World War,” said Patricia Pérez, Chair for ICW Global.

The International Community of Women Living with HIV/ AIDS (ICW Global) held
its traditional Annual Dinner Monday, October 25 at 8 pm at the Four Seasons
Hotel, Posadas Street 1068, in the city of Buenos Aires.

Regarding the need to extend the global social AIDS response, UNAIDS has
called upon many different sectors not traditionally involved in fighting
the epidemic to participate in the task. This activity was called for by ICW
Global under the slogan of their worldwide More Peace, Less AIDS campaign:
“Extending the Global Social AIDS Response”.

“We would like to thank you for trusting in our work once again. Thank you
for helping us take ICW Global's message about women living with HIV or AIDS
to places we would have never reached without you” said the Argentine
Patricia Pérez, Global Chair of ICW Global.

“We cannot forget that every 20 seconds a woman, girl, or adolescent
contracts HIV somewhere in our world and this can - even more - this must,
be avoided in order to stop the pandemic and its devastation”, noted Arely
Cano Mesa, ICW Latina Regional Secretary from Nicaragua.

“Since its appearance, AIDS has killed almost the same amount of people as
the total number of victims from fields of battle of the First and Second
World War”, concluded Pérez to the media present at the hotel.

This year, spots performed by the actress Mónica Ayos, the dinner's
Godmother, and the actor Diego Olivera, were launched as part of the
Campaign“Prevention Mother to Child Vertical Transmission and Women’s
Rights”. The event was hosted by Mariel Di Lenarda and Marcela Giorgi (who
replaced Carla Czudnowsky who has recently given birth).

More than 300 social actors were present, among them sportsmen, artists,
politician, businessmen, media, union men, official representatives from
different countries, and local, national and international United Nations
officials.

Adrian Barilari, lead singer of Rata Blanca, Engineer Juan Pablo Schiavi,
National Transport Secretary, Gabriela Michetti, former City of Buenos Aires
Vice-Chief and current National Congress Woman, Lidia Saya, Vice President
for Buenos Aires Health Commission Legislative Body, the union man Victor
Santamaría(SUTERH), the President of the Justicialista Metropolitan Party
Juan Manuel Olmos, Gerardo Mitre and Marisa Mujica (Fundamind), Kurt Frieder
(Huésped Foundation), Mario Miranda and Rolando Oreiro (INCAA, National
Institute of Cinema), Carlos Traboulsi, Democratic-Christian Party
President, and many others, represented the wide range of actors involved in
supporting the women’s network, ICW Global, to fight AIDS.

Mr. Jorge Salinas, Rigecín Laboratories, presented the managers’ support for
ICW Global’s actions, and spoke about the launch of CEUM (United Managers’
Council to the World), which will provide further backing to aid ICW
Global’s international actions.

Dr César Núñez, Director of the UNAIDS Regional Support Team for Latin
America, who came to this event from Panama, expressed clear words of
support for ICW Global’s work from the UN Programme for AIDS and shared a
table at the event with Patricia Pérez, Mónica Ayos, Juan P. Schiavi, Víctor
Santamaría, Gabriela Michetti, Atacama Publicity President, and Mr. Enrique
Robino. Horacio Elizondo, former referee, and Martín Jaite shared supportive
messages, and a moving tribute was made to Dr Laura Astarloa, infectious
disease specilialist and close friend of ICW Global, who passed away in May
2010. The tribute highlighted the words of Dr. Héctor Pérez from the Huésped
Foundation. Present at the event were her nine children.

The United Nations had a strong representation at the dinner as well, with
Dr Ruben Mayorga, Coordinator of the UNAIDS for the South Cone, Mr. Andrés
Franco, Director of UNICEF, and Lic. Carola Lew, HIV/ AIDS Advisor for
ONUDD, in attendance.

The Regional Secretaries of ICW Latina for Latin America and the Caribbean,
Arely Cano from Nicaragua and Marina Soto from Peru, and a group of members
of the Argentine Chapter of ICW Global who came from the provinces of
Mendoza, San Luis, Salta, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Buenos Aires and the Autonomous
City of Buenos Aires were also present.

* This event marked a significant step in strengthening the answer to the
HIV/AIDS pandemic in Argentina and the rest of the world.*

AMPLIANDO LA RESPUESTA SOCIAL MUNDIAL AL SIDA

La Comunidad Internacional de Mujeres Viviendo con VIH/SIDA ICW Global
realizó el lunes 25 de octubre a las 20:00 hs en el Hotel Four Seasons,
Posadas 1068, en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, su tradicional cena anual.

Ante la necesidad de ampliar la respuesta social mundial al SIDA, ONUSIDA ha
convocado a distintos sectores, para impulsar acciones que den sustento a
una mayor participación de sectores habitualmente no involucrados en la
tarea frente a la pandemia, esta actividad de ICW Global fue convocada bajo
el lema “Ampliando la respuesta social al SIDA”.

“Gracias por confiar nuevamente en nuestra tarea. Gracias por ayudarnos a
llevar este mensaje de ICW Global, de las mujeres, niñas y adolescentes que
vivimos con VIH o SIDA, a lugares que jamás alcanzaríamos sin ustedes." Dijo
la argentina Patricia Pérez, Presidenta Mundial de la ICW Global

“No podemos dejar de recordar que cada 20 segundos una mujer, niña o
adolescente contrae VIH en algun lugar del mundo y esto se puede, es más, se
debe evitar para que la Pandemia y los estragos que causa, sean detenidos.”
Acotó Arely Cano Mesa, de Nicaragua, Secretaria Regional de ICW Latina.

Este año se presentaron spots realizados por la actriz Mónica Ayos (Madrina
de la cena) y el actor Diego Olivera, como parte de la Campaña de Prevención
de Transmisión Vertical Madre a Hijo y Derechos de la Mujer. Asimismo, el
encuentro contó con la conducción de Mariel Di Lenarda, Marcela Giorgi (en
reemplazo de Carla CZudnowsky que fue mamá recientemente).

Participaron mas de 300 actores de la sociedad: Deportistas, Artistas,
Políticos, Empresarios, Medios de Comunicación, Gremialistas, representantes
oficiales de distintos países, funcionarios de Naciones Unidas, locales,
nacionales e internacionales.

Adrian Barilari (Rata Blanca), el Ing.Juan Pablo Schiavi Secretario de
Transporte de la Nación, Gabriela Michetti, ex Vicejefa de Gobierno de la
Ciudad de Buenos Aires y actual Diputada Nacional, Lidia Saya,
Vicepresidenta de la Comisión de Salud de la Legislatura porteña, el
sindicalista Victor Santamaría(SUTERH), el Presidente del partido
Justicialista Metropolitano Juan Manuel Olmos,Gerardo Mitre y Marisa Mujica
de Fundamind, Kurt Frieder de Huesped, Mario Miranda y Rolando Oreiro del
INCAA Instituto Nacional de Cine, Carlos Traboulsi Presidente del Partido
Demócrata Cristiano, entre otros, mostrando la policromía de compromisos que
la acción frente al SIDA que impulsa la red de mujeres ICW Global, sostiene
como estandarte.

El Sr. Jorge Salinas, de Laboratorios Rigecín, presentó el apoyo del
Empresariado a las acciones de ICW Global, con el lanzamiento del CEUM
-Consejo de Empresarios Unidos para el Mundo-, como apoyo a la acción
internacional de ICW Global.

El Dr. César Núñez, director de la oficina regional de ONUSIDA para América
Latina, llegado desde Panamá para el evento, manifestó; palabras de
explícito apoyo del Programa de ONU para SIDA, a la tarea de ICW Global y
compartió la mesa con Patricia Pérez, Mónica Ayos, Juan P. Schiavi, Víctor
Santamaría, Gabriela Michetti, el presidente de Atacama Publicidad, Sr.
Enrique Robino, quienes compartieron los mensajes de apoyo del ex arbitro
Horacio Elizondo, Martín Jaite y el sentido Homenaje, con la presencia de
sus 9 hijos, que se ofreció a la infectóloga Dra. Laura Astarloa, gran amiga
de ICW Global, fallecida en Mayo de 2010, destacándose las palabras del Dr.
Héctor Pérez de Fundación Huesped.

El Sistema de Naciones Unidas se hizo presente con la presencia del Dr.
Ruben Mayorga, Coordinador Cono Sur ONUSIDA, Sr. Andrés Franco , Director
UNICEF, Lic. Carola Lew , Asesora en VIH/Sida, ONUDD.

También las Secretarias Regionales de América Latina y el Caribe de ICW
Latina, Arely Cano de Nicaragua y Marina Soto del Perú y un grupo de mujeres
miembros de ICW Capítulo argentino llegadas desde Mendoza, San Luis, Salta,
Santa Fe,Córdoba, Ciudad de Buenos Aires y Provincia de Buenos Aires.

*Un gran paso para fortalecer la Respuesta a la Pandemia en Argentina y el
Mundo.*
