Subject: Outcomes - Friday Nov 26th - Meeting Re: Peer Support Resources for
STOP HIV/AIDS team and VCH STOP project

Hi everyone,

Our apologies for not getting these outcomes to you sooner from the Peer
Support meeting - Friday Nov 26th - 10am - 12pm, SFU.

I have attached the STOP Team calendar as promised showing where they are
working with clients. I have also attached all the documents from our
meeting last Friday at SFU.

Look forward to hearing back from you by Friday December 10th about your
organization's support of the Peer Support proposal and coordinating model.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Many thanks.

Peer Support meeting - Friday Nov 26th - 10am - 12pm, SFU

Outcomes

1. Each of the representatives from PAN, PWN, PWA, Youth Co and
Healing Our Spirit will go back to their organizations and discuss the
proposal and coordinating model for Phase 1 - Peer Support for the STOP Team
including support for PAN as the coordinating body. Each member will report
back to Meaghan Thumath by Friday Dec 10th.

2. If there is support for the Peer Support proposal and coordinating
model, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be developed in January 2011
between VCH and PAN, PWN, PWA, Youth Co and Healing Our Spirit to identify
the resources required and accountabilities of all organizations to provide
peer support to the STOP HIV/AIDS Team.

3. Suzann Richter will follow up with the PHSA led Aboriginal HIV/AIDS
Strategy Committee about the need to identify peer support as part of their
planning

4. VCH Team will send with the Nov 26th meeting Outcomes STOP HIV/AIDS
Team calendar to show the activities and need for peer support. See attached
calendar.

Discussion

The purpose of the meeting was to review and give feedback on the VCH
proposal and model for Peer Support and Coordination (see attached
documents) for the new clinical STOP HIV/AIDS Team. The role the STOP Team
(see attached one page overview). VCH's goal is to have peer support for
the STOP Team by the end of January 2011.

PWN, PWA, Youth Co and Healing Our Spirit currently provide Peer Support to
people with HIV/AIDS. PAN is a coordinating agency for people with HIV/AIDS.
PHSA funds several of the groups and is one of the BC STOP project partners.

There was discussion and agreement from all for an overall plan for Peer
Support for people with HIV/AIDS. VCH team described overall plan as Phase
2 of the STOP Project. The pace of the STOP project is such that 'easier to
implement' strategies are proceeding now while more focused planning with a
larger stakeholder groups is required for 'more challenging' strategies to
be implemented. Group agreed to focus and provide feedback on the proposal
for Phase 1 - Peer Support for the STOP Team - approximately 16 to 25 hours
per week. It was identified that there are current resource challenges to
provide peer supports to the STOP Team as well as the time to support the
peers to do their work. These operational challenges as well as the
requirements to coordinate requests for peer support can be identified in an
MOU.
