just forwarding the correspondence between don (the pastor/coordinator of the space @ mosaic) and myself. please take the time to read his most recent message - i think we should definitely mop the floors as a thank you for using the space.
also, it looks like he's open to the idea of establishing a more permanent relationship in terms of space sharing. this is cool because it would probably mean we could have access to the Mosaic for future events as well if it was needed.
anyway, this also confirms that the diversity training workshop continues at Mosaic this coming sunday.

Hey Sarah, glad it went well. You can have it next week- no problem. Not sure what you can do.... normally we do charge groups a little money- (since we are barely making it ourselves), but when groups we want to support don't have money, than we make it work. So, if this is going to be longer term we will have to work something out. However- 1 thing does come to mind. As you can see, we have pretty okay weekly cleaning going on (one of our guys does it regularly), but that floor is hard to get really clean.
I don't know if someone in your group could come and do a really thorough mop after you meet next time... that would help us alot. We pay for our own people to clean, so don't want to ask someone unemployed from our community to do it for free- but we can't afford the extra hours for a really deep clean regularly. It would have to be a time when no one else is around- otherwise it is impossible to keep people off the damp floor.
Just an idea, let me know what you think. (we don't have the greatest mop and cleaners- part of the problem)
I think we actually have a "policy" about using the space... that we should go over if I can find it.
cheers, Don

Hello again Don,
So, the workshop went brilliantly on Sunday - in fact, so brilliantly that we decided to extend it to a second session in order to delve more fully into the internal workings of our group. In order to faciliate this second workshop, I'm wondering if it might be possible to use the Space @ Mosaic again this coming Sunday (Mar. 20) from 4:30-9pm. And again, if there's anything we can do as a thank you, just let me know.
Sarah

This is great news Don, thanks so much! We'll definitely keep the place clean, and I'd be happy to chat with you more about how the workshop goes.
As far as our 'connections' for organic produce, usually it entails having access to a car and being able to drive out to major organic distributor warehouses where you can pick up their extra food that is not able to be sold, which they are often willing to donate to groups. I'm sure Mosaic would be an acceptable recipient for such a donation. The two distributors who we have used in the past are Discovery Organics and Pro Organics. I can get you the contact information if you think the sort of arrangement I have described might work for the folks at Mosaic.
Right now I have quite a heavy workload during the week, so it might be difficult for me to come by Mosaic before Saturday. Would it be possible for me to drop by before your Saturday service in order to get the key? I can't remember what time that would be, but I'm able to be fairly flexible on Saturday...
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah, the space is available Sunday... you can use it if you think it will work well. We are certainly open to a group using it for anti-oppression and diversity training- in fact it really interests me. I'd be interested in hearing more about it.
Don't worry about doing anything in return..., but if you could make sure its cleaned up- that will be good. I am interested in finding out more about the organic produce and how that might work for us. We have specific people do our meals- and having them plan and shop is part of their ownership- but we certainly are looking for ways of being more organic and saving money.
I will be around a fair bit this week, so maybe we can connect to get a key before Sunday.
Cheers back, Don

Hi Don,
Vanact is currently in the process of re-couping after the Tent City, and part of that process involves grounding ourselves as a group again. We're doing an anti-oppression and diversity training workshop this coming Sunday (Mar. 13) from 4:30-9pm, and we're trying to secure a space for that workshop. It was suggested that the Mosaic space would be ideal. Is the space free, and would you be open to that?
Perhaps there is a way that we could do something in return for the Mosaic community. Maybe we could do an organic produce pick-up prior to one of your Wednesday dinners, or something of the sort...
Cheers,
Sarah
