Hi all,

Just a reminder, council agreed to add 1 more night to the chinatown
hearings this thursday (tmr) at 6pm. I believe CCAP and DNC are planning a
little something to go out on a high note, which it very well could be!

I encourage all who haven't spoken, or would like to again, to sign up. Even
just to say a few words along the lines of; I oppose this, we need the LAPP
(local area planning process) and SIS (Social Impact Study) completed first,
and gaurantees of low income and social housing etc etc. You can also talk
about shadows, lost heritage, police, priorities, etc etc etc.

I also think it will be useful to discuss as if they are voting AGAINST the
proposal, and suggest ways they could move forward (they don't like loosing
face and for some reason they feel defeated when stuff doesn't pass... which
is strange). Hurray. It really feels like we beat the condos out of em at
the last hearing.

Please let us know if you can make it, and if you can for sure it's worth
messaging ahead to signup. Remember, this is an opportunity to speak AGAIN,
and to be in solidarity with all the work being done in the DTES.

Yesterday, it was announced by the Mayor that the Public Hearing on the
Historic Area Height Review - Chinatown related items will reconvene
this *Thursday,
April 14, 2011, at 6:00 pm*, in order to continue hearing from speakers.



If you would like to speak at the Public Hearing, or have questions about
where you are on the speakers list, please contact Tina Hildebrandt in the
City Clerk’s Department at 604.873.7268 or by email at
tina.hildebrandt at vancouver.ca.



Also at yesterday’s hearing, Council received from the Assistant Director of
Housing Policy, a

8, 2011, on the DTES Housing Plan Update (with focus on
Chinatown).
