Support needed at Woodward's squat as soon as possible
(101 West Hastings, Abbott and Hastings)

It appears very likely that the police are going to evict the Woodward's
squatters in the early morning (Saturday morning). Right now the police
are slowly increasing their numbers on the first floor (the floor right
below where the majority of the squatters are), and they have stated that
they plan to clear the squat out on Saturday. There was also an informal
'agreement' that the squat would only go on for a week, which the
squatters have said is no longer in effect, and the squatters will not
voluntarily leave until their demands are met. The police appear to be set
on sticking to the one week plan.

Everyone who can come support is encouraged to come down as soon as
possible to help defend the squat. A large number of people both inside
and outside, showing their support for the squatters and their demands,
could put enough pressure on the police to make them back down. We have
already seen this a couple of times during this squat, and it's the only
way we can continue to defend it. Every time we prevent the police from
clearing out Woodward's is a small victory, building momentum for what is
a growing movement against the provincial government. Only through
militant actions with mass support will we see an end to the violent
attacks on workers and poor people in this province.
