On July 27, People's Coop Bookstore is pleased to launch Le fond de l'air est rouge, a collection of texts about the 2012 Quebec student uprising by Montreal artist and activist Stefan Christoff. Written between spring 2011 and summer 2012, this series of articles includes first hand accounts of the incredible street protests in Montreal and reflections on the student strike within the context of Quebec revolutionary history.Christoff will be joined by Harsha Walia, a South Asian activist and writer based in Vancouver, Coast Salish territories, and introduced by rabble.ca editor Derrick O'Keefe.

About the zine and the speakers
Stefan Christoff is a writer, an activist and musician. Le fond de l'air est rouge, published by Howl! arts collective, is a zine that captures and helps explain a key moment in Quebec popular history. Read a Q&A with Stefan Christoff about this project here.
Harsha Walia is a South Asian activist and writer based in Vancouver, Coast Salish territories. She is active in community-based grassroots movements including No One Is Illegal, South Asian Network for Secularism and Democracy, Women's Memorial March Committee and DTES is not for Developers Coalition. She works in the Downtown Eastside. Her writings have appeared in a number of newspapers, anthologies, websites and journals. Her upcoming book Undoing Border Imperialism will be released in fall 2013.
