*Please circulate widely* Join Vancouver Earth's Day Parade and CelebrationSay 'No' to Enbridge & Kinder Morgan's tar sands pipeline and tankers!Sunday, April 22Parade starts 11am: Meet at Grandview Hwy & Commercial Dr. (just North of Commercial- Broadway Skytrain Station).Festival until 3pm at Grandview Park (Commercial Dr & Charles St)In Canada, we are in the biggest environmental battle of our generation. The Harper government and Big Oil are determined to push through unpopular pipeline projects. All across BC and the rest of the country, a wall of opposition is being built to stop them, taking leadership from the First Nations who have united to oppose all tar sands exports across their lands. Everywhere the Enbridge public hearings have gone, there have been huge mobilizations of community opposition. On March 26 in Vancouver, close to 2,000 rallied against the Enbridge pipeline - and that was on a Monday in the middle of the day! The inspiring student group Youth 4 Climate Justice Now are making pipelines and tankers the main theme of this year's Vancouver Earth Day Parade and Celebration. This is an important chance for us to show - again! - that there is a big and broad opposition to tar sands pipelines and to tankers off our Pacific coast. So spread the word, tell your family, friends and your community, and see you on Sunday April 22!

Message from Youth 4 Climate Justice Now: Why you should join us on Earth Day It is our hope to recapture the roots of earth day as a celebration and a vehicle for environmental action. The parade event will be a celebration of positive change with a focus on global warming and social justice. Our goal is to fill the streets with thousands(!) of people so please bring your family, friends, dogs, cats, hop on your bike, create banners or dress up in costumes... let's make this day a memorable one! On the morning of Sunday April 22nd, 2011 at 11am, we will meet meet at Grandview Hwy. and Commercial Dr. just North of Commercial-Broadway Skytrain station. The parade will proceed northwards on Commercial Drive and on to Grandview Park, where we will be hosting an earth day festival. The festival will feature activities such as school/art competitions, music, a family tent, hands on activities, youth performers, and guest speakers. This is Vancouver’s second annual Earth Day Celebration organized by youth for all youth and the families of Metro Vancouver. We hope to raise awareness and show our concern about the effects of climate change as it is at the forefront of environmental issues today. Youth are inheriting the world and feel the need to take action to not just make Vancouver, but the global community a healthier and better place to live in. SIGN OUR PETITION: Our goal is to reach 10,000 signatures by Earth Day! We strongly believe that the Enbridge Northern Gateway project, or any other project for that matter, cannot be built in BC! Please sign this petition to show your support against the tar sands, as well as the First Nations communities opposing against these projects as well.
