In Honour of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence

Vancouver Status of Women Presents:

Performing Real Life:

Personal stories of Low income Single Mothers in Vancouver

A Psychodrama Workshop with Gabriela Reynoso

Saturday, Dec. 3rd

Kiwassa Neighbourhood House

2425 Oxford Street, Vancouver, BC

12:30 to 4:00pm

Psychodrama is a counselling method that uses theatre games to explore a
situation or struggle. Attendees will act out aspects of their lives that
they want to work on: fear of violence, relationship with their partner,
isolation, etc. By trying out different alternatives and different solutions
we will create new behaviors, new outcomes and new points of view, promoting
healing through spontaneity and creativity.

Psychodrama was described by its creator J.L. Moreno as 'a scientific
exploration of truth through dramatic method' where 'each member of the
group is a therapeutic agent of the other'.

In this workshop, we will:

- Learn from each other.

- Create awareness.

- Gain a new perspective of ourselves

- Build meaningful connections.

- Create space for change and action in our life.

- Find inner strength and resilience.

All self-identified low-income single mothers are welcome to attend.

This workshop is not a theatre/acting workshop. Participants do not require
any acting experience, but should be open to some light movement and
physical activity. There is no cost for attendance and a light lunch will
be provided. Free, onsite childcare is available through pre-registry.

Please RSVP to 604-255-6554 by Thursday Dec. 1st or email womencentre at vsw.ca
for more information.

Gabriela Reynoso has a Bachelors Degree in Theatre, a Masters Degree in
psychoanalysis, and years of psychodrama training in Mexico. She has
extensive experience working with women and children at risk, lives in
Vancouver, and is a flexible, caring and playful single mother of two.
