RALLY - JOIN THE WAVE AGAINST THE PAVE
Friday April 22, 2 pm
Meet at Annieville Supermarket, 10996 River Road, Delta.
Calling all residents, students, parents, elders, streamkeepers, treeplanters, guerilla gardeners, blockaders, rebels, climate defenders, farmers and freeway fighters!
As chainsaws roar and bulldozers get set to roll on the controversial $2 billion South Fraser Perimeter Road freeway (SFPR), join local residents and community groups in standing up for climate justice!
Last October, hundreds of people dug up the freeway construction site in Surrey with shovels and wheelbarrows, and in December we used sand from the SFPR to build a dike blocking the provincial cabinet offices. Now it's time to step up the campaign of mass direct action against climate crime. We need to turn up the heat, in order to turn down the heat.
Beginning on the 2nd International Mother Earth Day, Friday April 22, 2011 (a statutory holiday), we will take mass direct action for climate justice. Like the actions in October and December it will be non-disruptive to residents of the community and provide a variety of ways people can demonstrate their support – including roles with little or no legal risk. At the same time we hope that we can find ways to disrupt the construction of the South Fraser Freeway and focus public attention on the need to “Shut It Down” permanently.
This is an initiative of a Climate Justice Circle of lower mainland Council of Canadians, GatewaySucks activists & the Critical Criminology Working Group at Kwantlen U.
Come to a TEACH-IN this Saturday....we will provide details, logistics, legal info etc. We invite your participation in planning this action:
• April 9 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (12666 72nd Avenue, Surrey, Room D128 (Fir Bldg.) – 1 to 4 pm.)
Please send endorsements to info at stopthepave.org or call Eric at 604-877-1223 or Bob at 604-760-6786 for more information.

PUBLIC FORUM - OPT'S PILLOW TALK: A PUBLIC DIALOGUE FOR SHARING HOPES AND DREAMS ABOUT SEXUAL EXPRESSION, HEALTH AND DIVERSITY IN BC
Thursday, April 28th: attendees can choose from a morning session that begins at 9.30 am or an afternoon session at 1.30 pm
Radisson Hotel, 8181 Cambie Rd, Richmond, BC.
The Canada Line to Richmond will bring you to the Radisson Hotel (Lansdowne stop).
Options for Sexual Health, Canada's largest non-profit provider of sexual health services, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, and we'd like you to help us look forward to envision what sexual expression, health and diversity could look like in BC in the years ahead.
Have you ever wanted to tell provincial policy makers, service providers, educators, the media, and your fellow citizens how we can improve sexuality/sexual health services in BC?
Now is your chance! Come out and join the discussion, Register here for a free lunch.
Sexuality is a universal human trait, so why is it still such an awkward subject for individuals and organizations? Why are sexual health services and education so different from place to place in BC? When will BC have coherent social, health and education strategies for supporting our enjoyment of and respect for healthy sexual expression and diversity throughout our lives?
Some of the people you might encounter include:
* a son or daughter who wants his or her parents to enjoy a healthy
sexual relationship for as long as they can, wherever they live
* an avid "Savage Love" reader
* a guy who wants more relevant sexual health services for men
* the "go to" parent
* individuals who think sex should be celebrated, not stigmatized
* someone who can't find a doctor who speaks knowledgeably and
non-judgmentally about sex
* a teacher who knows change is needed in how sex education is taught
* a person who wants safer communities for LGBTQ folks
* a grandma who calls it like it is
* a student activist who tries to make schools more inclusive and safe
* a young person who is tired of hearing the same old sex ed
* someone who is simply curious to know what this is all about

Richmond Sharing Farm, Terra Nova Rural Park
The Richmond Fruit Tree Sharing Project and the Richmond Food Security Society have teamed up with local Permaculture activist and educator Erin Innes to offer a summer-long course in sustainable design and ecological land stewardship at the Richmond Sharing Farm at Terra Nova Rural Park.

Design professionals, farmers, urban homesteaders, builders, community organizers, and anyone with an interest in creating sustainable communities will find themselves inspired and challenged by the dynamic and hands-on learning environment. Coursework will take place in the context of a working community farm , with a focus on integrating Permaculture systems into an existing production organic agriculture operation.
The course will run Tuesday evenings from May until August, plus one Sunday per month and a weekend of project building in September . Students who complete all units will receive their Permaculture Designer Certification through the Urban Permaculture Guild
