BOLIVIA’S CALL FOR GLOBAL ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE

The
Canada Bolivia Solidarity Committee invites you to attend a meeting on
Saturday, March 27, 2pm at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (800 E.
Broadway) to learn about the upcoming World People’s Conference on
Climate
Change and the Rights of Mother Earth and to discuss actions that you
or your organization could commit to in preparation for, during, and as
follow up to
this pivotal event.  

Social movement representatives, indigenous peoples,
women, environmental migrants and refugees, scientists, academics, lawyers,
and media are invited to reflect on how to best join forces at this crucial time,
in advance of the Cochabamba
conference of April and of the Mexico Conference of the Parties of December
2010. 

 

The meeting will last two hours, and will
include:


-        Presentation of an edited podcast of the presentation made
in Vancouver on
March 7 by Pablo Solon, Bolivian Ambassador to the United Nations

-        Presentation of basic information on the conference itself

-        Two BC speakers to present on current Canadian civil society
and government positions ref Copenhagen,
Kyoto Protocol, etc

-        Identification of work groups, participatory process

-        Action plan for before, during and after the Cochabamba
Conference.
