Purple Thistle Centre (#260 - 975 Vernon Dr)
Vancouver - Coast Salish Territory
APC Copwatch proposal
The olympics have left an increased police/ surveillance presence in
Vancouver. The olympics have also kicked gentrification into high gear
(real estate being one of the major points for having the event in the
first place). These two reasons are some of the most pressing issues
concerning the out of control policing that is affecting our city.
It takes the community to stand up and say that we will not be harassed,
beaten, jailed, or pushed into hiding because we are poor, ill, addicted
or not meeting up to the standards forced on us from a capitalist
system.
The Anti Poverty Committee would like to ask other groups and individuals
to come together and restart the Copwatch Program in Vancouver.
We have been given use of the Purple Thistle Centre as a neutral space to
have a starting community discussion. The space is available for this use
Saturday, April 17th at 3pm.
We invite all interested to attend.
If you are unable to attend and are interested or have ideas, issues,
concerns to bring up please email in advance so they can be talked about
at the meeting.
Thank you
the Anti Poverty Committee
