Thanks to Canadians' enthusiastic efforts, Al Jazeera English(AJE) has
begun operations in Canada. Viewers in this country now have access to
independent public journalism on TV. Three major distributors carry
AJE and next month we will see the opening of a Canadian bureau.

This is a win for quality journalism and media diversity!

But work remains. Several of the carriers are short shifting AJE by
making customers pay extra for the channel, and some aren't making it
available at all.

We need to ensure that AJE is easily accessible to all Canadians.
