                  Office Manager- 
Job Share position 

      The 
Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users (VANDU) is in its eleventh year 
of providing drug user-based outreach, support and educational services 
for illicit drug users in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. VANDU 
has a membership of 2000-plus. We are seeking an Office Manager for 
a job share position. As a job share position this will be a 
half-time position 2 days one week/3 days the alternate week. Rate of 
pay starts at $17/hr with 3 weeks vacation and employer paid extended 
health benefits after 3 months. 

Key Duties and Responsibility 
Clerical tasks i.e. 
  taking phone calls, maintaining email and contact distribution lists;Maintaining office 
  equipment and facilities; Supervision of front 
  desk clerks Volunteer and membership 
  coordinationHuman resourcesCompilation of monthly 
  and quarterly stats to funderCoordination with 
  bookkeepers and accountant on financial mattersDaily payouts and 
  stipendsReconciling cash 
  dailyPurchasingAssistance in grant 
  writing and event planning Liaising with community 
  agencies and service providers Tasks as required 
  by VANDU Board of Directors and staff 
 

Qualifications/ Requirements  


Non-profit experience 
  is an asset Excellent oral and 
  written English language skills as well as computer fluency (Proficiency 
  in MS Word, Excel, email, and Internet use)Minimum two years’ 
  office experience requiredAbility to understand 
  and relate to marginalized uses of illicit drugs in the Downtown Eastside 
  and the issues they face.A commitment to 
  modeling appropriate self-care and boundaries within a high stress environment
A clear understanding 
  of the challenges and potential working within a drug user environment, 
  including the responsibility of imparting skills and knowledge, a commitment 
  to collaborative voice and a capacity to be an effective mentor.
 

20 hrs/week plus benefits $17/hr

Administrative Director

VANDU has a membership of 2000-plus. We are seeking an Administrative 
Director to share in the development, coordination, management and fundraising 
responsibilities at VANDU.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities  


Oversee VANDU projects 
  and programs and hire, train and provide ongoing leadership and support 
  to project staffOpen and close VANDU 
  office and supervise staff, volunteers and contractorsClosely liaise with 
  the VANDU accountant and bookkeeperAttend and participate 
  in weekly VANDU board of directors’ meetings  Ensure the goals 
  and objectives of the Society are adhered to and conduct program, volunteer 
  and staff performance reviews Mentor VANDU volunteers, 
  develop funds and manage financesIdentify workshops 
  and resources that will build the capacity of VANDU membersOversee the completion 
  of budgets and reports to funders according to the timeline set out 
  in contracts.  Accompany and support 
  VANDU members to meetings and conferences assisting with preparing and 
  making presentations Be informed of research, 
  consultation reports, city, provincial and federal studies and policies, 
  in the areas of community development, illicit drug use and health.Collaborate with 
  VANDU board members on the liaison between VANDU and other community 
  groups that deal with issues relevant to VANDU membership. 
 

Qualifications/Requirements 

- experience in social work, harm reduction or related field.  

- Experience in program development and management, and staff supervision.  

- Excellent oral and written English language skills as well as computer 
fluency (Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, email, and Internet use) 

- Excellent organizational, problem solving and group facilitation skills 
- Current knowledge of legislation 
and policies affecting people who use illegal drugs. 

- Demonstrated experience in community development and outreach. 

- Demonstrated ability to complete program, funding, and statistical 
reports.  

- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.  
 

 

- Ability to work as part of 
a team, with an advisory board, a board of directors and independently.  

- Successful completion of criminal record search 
- Demonstrated financial acumen 
and experience in managing, developing and monitoring a $500,000 budget.
- Proven capacity in fund development 
and donor relations including government, foundation, special events, 
corporate and private sponsorship
- Superior written communication 
skills and ease in communication with a diverse range of audiences (government, 
donors, media, etc.) at local, regional and national levels
- Demonstrated experience in 
organizational change management and capacity building while effectively 
engaging key stakeholders
- Familiarity and working knowledge 
of substance use, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and harm reduction issues particularly 
within the Lower Mainland of BC.
- Familiarity and working knowledge 
of population health, health promotion and community readiness models 
and approaches.
- Exceptional time management 
skills, ability to prioritize competing issues, and ability to respond 
to and work through challenges with a high degree of vision, balance 
and professionalism
- A commitment to modeling 
appropriate self-care and boundaries within a high stress environment. 
- A clear understanding of
