ABOUT LAL:
LALs music is the outcome of a collaboration between vocalist Rosina
Kazi, electronic music composer and producer Nick Murray (a.k.a. Murr),
bassist Ian De Souza, and percussionist Rakesh Tewari. All their records
have been released to much acclaim, including their previous release being
awarded Best Soul Album 2004 by prominent Canadian music rag
Exclaim!Magazine.
LAL is a protest band representing Uganda, Bangladesh, Barbados and India.
The new record is called Deportation and it was creatively triggered by
9/11 and its affects, deportations and national security measures, our
experiences as migrant peoples, our travels, and those weve met along the
way, our thoughts & spirits as individuals and communities. We are
grateful for the opportunity to make music that speaks to issues of social
justice.
Sound-wise, Deportation is as compelling as its subject matter.- Toronto
Star.
