What is the People's Health Series?
The People's Health Series is a series of 7 workshops to share experiences
of health and learn basic health information and skills which are relevant
to the lives of working-class people.

We know that health is not just a matter of personal choices. For many of
us, health is sacrificed in the non-stop task of trying to get the basic
necessities for ourselves and our families.

This is the case for the majority of the world's people who struggle to
fulfill basic needs. At the same time rent, food, gas, education, and
transit are all increasing in cost while public services are being cut. The
stress of long hours, poverty, discrimination, lack of control and lack of
resources is a major cause of ill-health. Today it's clear that achieving
health for all people requires us to fight for broad social and economic
change.

While our health to a large part depends on larger factors, we also owe it
to ourselves and our families to take the best care of our health that we
know how to. Often times, basic health practices and knowledge can improve
the quality of our lives and make us better able to take on the challenges
of fighting for social justice.

We envision the People's Health Series to be a forum for working class
people to share their experiences of health, learn valuable health
information from health professionals, and develop an understanding of how
we can work together to win better wages, improved public services, and
greater power to determine our own health and development. We believe in
the power of people to come together, share their ideas and find solutions
to the problems that effect us all.
