Removal, round-up, and detention of protesters in Oaxaca, Mexico.

November 2, 2007

One year from the attempt of the Federal Preventative Police (PFP) to bring
down the barricades of 5 Señores and Soriana (in Oaxaca City). Today,
November 2, 2007, various people congregated at the crossing of 5 Señores in
order to set up altars and tapetes for the Day of the Dead, to honour our
more than 23 comrades assassinated by state and federal government during
the Oaxacan movement.

At 6:30 am approximately, the sand for the tapetes was being placed and part
of the 5 Señores crossing was blocked. At this time, the state police was
already surrounding the area with motorcycles. At approximately 7:30 am,
various truckloads with state police aboard and bunker trucks full of state
police arrived. All were armed and were pointing their weapons at the people
that were at the crossing, they surrounded the place and started to follow
whoever ran and started to detain people.

At present, we know of approximately 15 compañeras and compañeros who were
detained that were transferred to installations of the Secretariat for
Citizen Protection (CEPROCI) and to the Office of the State Attorney General
that are located in the neighbourhood colonia Experimental, on the outskirts
of the city.

WE HOLD THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC SECURITY SEGRESTES RIOS (FORMER PRESIDENT OF
THE STATE COMMISSION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN OAXACA) RESPONSIBLE FOR PHYSICAL AND
EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING OF ALL OF OUR DETAINED COMPAÑER at S.

Desalojo, redada y detenciones contra manifestantes en Oaxaca.

A un año del intento de la Policía Federal Preventiva (PFP) de desalojar las
barricadas de 5 señores y Soriana. El día de hoy, 2 de noviembre de 2007,
diversas personas se reunieron en el crucero de 5 señores para colocar unos
tapetes de día de muertos y altares a nuestros más de 23 asesinados por los
gobiernos estatales y federales durante el movimiento oaxaqueño.

A las 6:30 am aproximadamente se colocó la arena para realizar los tapetes y
se bloqueó parte del crucero de 5 señores. Para esas horas la policía
estatal ya se encontraba rondando el lugar en motos. Aproximadamente a las
7:30 llegaron al lugar varias camionetas de la policía estatal con policías
a bordo y camiones bunkers repletos de policía estatal, en total eran
aproximadamente 100 policías, todos se encontraban armados y apuntando
contra la población que se encontraba en el crucero, rodearon el lugar y
comenzaron a seguir a quienes corrían y a detener a las personas.

Para estas horas sabemos de aproximadamente 15 compañeros y compañeras
detenidas que fueron trasladados a las instalaciones de la Secretaría de
Protección Ciudadana (CEPROCI) y a la Procuraduría de Justicia que se
encuentra en la colonia Experimental, a las orillas de la ciudad.
