Join Grassroots Women on International Women’s Day 2007

 

Strengthen Women’s Resistance: 

Oppose Imperialism’s Intensifying Attacks! Assert Women’s Basic Human
Rights!

 

Rally and march: March 8th, 5:30 p.m. Chinatown Memorial Square, NE corner
of Keefer and Columbia. 

 

The rally will feature speakers from Grassroots Women, Philippine Women
Centre, No One Is Illegal, Al Awda (Palestinian Right to Return), as well as
Gloria Laroque from the Aboriginal Angel Doll Project and KETA Society. The
march will conclude with refreshments at the Grassroots Women office.

Also, Grassroots Women encourages our supporters to attend a rally from 2:00
to 5:00 on the same day, denouncing the visit of former Mexican president
Vicente Fox and his wife Martha Shagun, who are appearing as motivational
speakers at GM Place. The rally, organized by the Other Campaign Vancouver,
will speak out against the outrage that Fox will talk about “leadership” on
IWD, when he is responsible for the deaths, rapes, torture and political
incarceration of hundreds of women (and men) in Mexico, during his six years
in power, not to mention the misery and displacement of millions of women,
men and children. 

This rally will gather at 2:00 p.m at  Keefer St & Abbott St. (outside TNT
store, near Stadium skytrain). After 2:00, signs from Keefer and Abbot will
direct to the rally outside of GM Place. At 5:00, we will march to join the
Grassroots Women IWD rally, starting at Keefer & Columbia.
