*IN LATIN AMERICA TODAY*
*Saturday, July 14, 1 pm*

A socialist transformation of Cuban society began soon after the January 1,
1959 victory of the revolutionary forces led by Fidel Castro. This had
far-reaching consequences throughout Latin America and the world. Today, the
people and government of Venezuela have declared "socialism in the 21st
century" as a goal for their society and as a burning need for all of
humanity. Two longtime socialists and activists in the early movement of
solidarity with the Cuban Revolution will speak.
*Speakers: *

U.S. during the 1960's and 1970's; leader of the Young Socialist Alliance
