Break out those fishnets, Valentine's Day is upon us!

It's time once again for the 7th annual People's Prom. It's the prom
you never had in high school. It's a radical, community-oriented,
anti-capitalist, queer, cross-dressing, gender bending, bike loving,
slow dancing, big dress wearing, good time. And it's a fund raiser for
creative resistance projects in the community - scroll to the bottom
for details.

Wednesday Feb 14th 2007
8pm to 1am sharp
Grandview Legion 2205 Commercial Drive

Featuring:
DJ Sensual Moves
Buzy B
Su Comandante
The Attourney
and the always wonderful MC Cookie la Whore

Tickets $8
On sale Friday Jan 26th onwards at:
Our Community Bikes - 3283 Main Street
Spartacus Books - 319 W Hastings
People's Coop Bookstore - 1391 Commercial Drive

Be forewarned, they sold out way fast last year. This year there'll be
NO tickets at the door. Once the tickets sell out, they're all gone.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
You could also volunteer.

We need people to volunteer in the following areas:
Door: Greet the kids, take their tickets.
Coat check: Be the first to glimpse the unveiling of hot prom outfits.
Chaperones: Keep the peace, secure the vibe, make sure couples aren't
dancing too close.
Bar: Serve booze, keep people happy. Serving It Right preferred.
Spin The Bottle: A giant spin the bottle wheel, with you as cupid!
Clean up: Help us get our damage deposit back.

Your night will not be entirely taken up with prom responsibilities.
You can volunteer for as long you like, but we'd like you to commit
for a minimum of 90 mins on the night itself.

As a volunteer, you will get in free, revolutionize Valentine's Day,
have the satisfaction of being a part of something wonderful, and get
laid for sure.

All proceeds raised from the People's Prom are put into the People's
Trust Fund which is then given away to groups working in the community
for social change. Each year a particular cause is chosen that the
money will be raised for.

Perhaps you have a master plan for changing the world and a little
cash would help?

The Prom Committee is redesigning the Peoples Trust Fund for 007,
trying to mix it up and find new ways of giving the money back to the
community. Check back here closer to the Prom to see how to apply to
the Trust Fund.

Here's where the money has gone in the past:
2006: Art & Politics, all forms of Creative Resistance
2005: Resistance against all levels of gov't
2004: Resistance against welfare cuts in BC
2003: Resistance against the Olympic Bid
2002: Groups fighting against the BC Liberals
2001: Groups working against the FTAA

Thanks for reading this far down and see you at the Prom, cutie!!

xo, the prom committee
