HAITI TODAY:

   United Nations forces shoot up poor neighbourhoods;
   Funding to tackle poverty is nowhere to be seen

   One year after the presidential election of 2006, United
Nations repression is on the rise again in Haiti. On December 22,
at least five people were killed and several dozen injured by
bullets from a UN assault in the Cité Soleil district of Port au
Prince. Similar UN assaults are now occuring regularly in the
name of combatting crime and "bandits".

   Meanwhile, popular movements continue to organize. They are
demanding:
   * Stop the armed assaults by UN forces on popular neighbourhoods
   * Release all political prisoners
   * Money for schools and hospitals; not for weapons and foreign advisors
   * End the foreign occupation of Haiti! Canada/U.S./France out!
