2010: Its About Making A Killing
The 2010 Olympic Games is not about sports, its about making a killing.
Several official Olympic sponsors are the worst criminals colonization
and capitalism has produced. All have directly supported and financed the
theft of indigenous territory, social cleansing and ecological
destruction.
These few chosen corporations below best represent the true spirit of the
games. The brief outlines by no means encompass the extent of human
rights/ecological violations.
Mc DONALDS:
Mc Donalds has a history of threatening free speech, human and animal
rights violations and the destruction of tropical forests leading to the
mass displacement of indigenous people from there land.
As well, Mc Murder takes advantage of high unemployment to exploit the
most vulnerable people in society, working them very hard for very little
money. In BC, Mc Donalds has taken advantage of the 6 dollar training
wage to further exploit there workers.

COCA-COLA:
Coca-Cola is one of several corporations in Colombia that finances the
on-going war that has forces thousands of indigenous farmers and villagers
from their homes.
Several union leaders at Coca-Cola's Colombian bottling plants have been
murdered. Hundreds of other Coke workers have been tortured, kidnapped
and/or illegally detained by violent paramilitaries, often working closely
with plant management.

DOW CHEMICAL:
Notorious for producing some of the worlds most ecological devastating
chemicals, DOW is also responsible for the Bhopal catastrophe. The
Hiroshima of the chemical industry, is the worlds worst-ever industrial
disaster. Although Dow Chemical acquired Carbides liabilities when it
purchased the company in 2001, it still refuses to address its liabilities
in Bhopal - or even admit that they exist.

GENERAL ELECTRIC:
For decades GE has been killing people and destroying their lands. General
Electric performed secret nuclear tests that exposed thousands of people
to nuclear radiation. They have conducted sadistic experiments on
prisoners. In several plants they have violated scores of environmental
laws by dumping PCBs and other deadly chemicals into rivers. They are one
of the largest ongoing producers of weapons of mass destruction and a key
supplier of weapons to Israel.

BIRKS:
Birks has made a bloody killing from blood diamonds. Blood diamonds, often
called conflict diamonds, are mined in war torn African countries. The
process consists of grotesque human rights abuses, often murdering and
enslaving the local populations to mine the diamonds. Birkss money is
re-invested into on-going civil wars with the logic that destabilized
countries are cheapest to exploit and child soldiers make good miners.

EPCOR:
Epcor is a Canadian corporation that finds itself comfortable as a top-ten
green house gas admitter. Epcor also involves itself in the genocidal
pursuit of resource extraction in northern Canada. The largest project is
the tar sands in Alberta.
The Dene are one of several indigenous nations to be lain siege by the
acceleration of corporate invasion in the war of resource theft in the
north. They have had their lands fragmented and destroyed by the tar sands
developmentone of the most energy intensive oil extraction processes. The
waste created by this toxic process covers vast tracks of land in the
heart of the Dene territory and can even be seen from outer space. Most of
the oil taken from Dene lands is sold directly to the U.S. market where it
helps fuel the US imperial plunder.

HUDSONS BAY:
The Hudsons bay has led the way for the corporate invasion of indigenous
territory for hundreds of years. In occupied British Colombia, fur-trade
companies such as the Hudson's Bay & Northwest Company began establishing
forts in the interior region, beginning with Fort St. John in 1805. At
this time, state-licensed corporations had taken control of colonial trade
and the expansion of markets. It was their quest for profits that spurred
colonization onward, from reconnaissance to the building of trails and
forts.
Many of the most-well known European 'pioneers' & explorers of BC were in
fact company employees. The companies were primary agents of colonization,
serving to introduce European culture & ideology to Natives, while
establishing a physical presence in Indigenous territories. They were also
well-armed, with their own militias and gun boats.
