Hello Grassroots Women members and supporters,

As you know, we will be mobilizing for our 4th Annual Mother’s Day March and
Rally on May 13th with the theme of “Reclaim Mother’s Day: Genuine Universal
Childcare Now!” (start at 2:00 at McSpadden Park--Victoria Dr and 4th Ave,
rally until 4:30 at Grandview Park--Commercial Dr. and Charles St.). We hope
that many of you will be able to join us (along with your mothers, children,
families, friends and allies) at this important event which aims to reclaim
the political roots of Mother’s Day, a day originally born out of women’s
anti-war and anti-conscription struggles.

However, for those of you who are not able to attend, you can still make
your voices heard by filling in the following survey, telling us about your
experiences and your ideas for action! Results from the survey will be used
in the following ways:

*	As input for a participatory art display which will be featured on
Mother’s Day. We will be creating these displays at an Art Party at 1:30 on
Sunday April 29th at our office (1115B East Hastings St, enter on Glen Dr).
Please join us on that day and/or add your ideas and artwork to the displays
on Mother’s Day!
*	As information to help deepen our understanding of women’s
experiences of childcare and to contribute toward our ongoing campaign:
Universal Childcare Is a Woman’s Right!

ALL RESPONSES WILL BE KEPT ANONYMOUS AND CONFIDENTIAL.

Please take some time to answer the following survey questions!

1) Did you know that Mother’s Day has political roots in women’s
anti-war and anti-conscription struggles? What suggestions do you have for
reclaiming this history?

2) What changes do you think are necessary for the role of mothers to
be fully recognized and supported in society?

3) What barriers have you experienced or witnessed that prevent the
full development of women and children?

4) Approximately what percentage of your family income goes toward
childcare? What types of childcare do you use (e.g. preschool, grandparents,
licensed childcare centre, etc.)?

5) Has the federal government $100/month “Universal Childcare Benefit”
allowed you to meet your childcare needs? If not, what should we do about
it?

6) What is your vision of women’s and children’s liberation?

7) Would you like to be contacted about future Grassroots Women events
and activities? If so, please provide your name, address, phone number and
email address.
