Seven Oaks invites you to join us for three outstanding progressive cultural
experiences in the next ten days:

First, as part of the Vancouver Comedy Festival, Seven Oaks editor and
Vancouver’s funniest Commie-dian, Charles Demers, performs with sketch
comedy partner Paul Bae (Bucket) on Thursday, Sept. 21, 8pm, at the Tom Lee
Society Stage, 3rd Floor – 929 Granville Street. The pair will also be
featured on The Debaters with Shawn Majumder, Wednesday, Sept. 20, 7pm, at
the Vancouver Cultural Centre, 1895 Venables Street.

SFU Professor and BC working-class historian Mark Leier is launching his
newest book, Bakunin: The Creative Passion, also on Wednesday, Sept. 20,
7:30pm, at the Vancouver Public Library, Alma Van Dusen room, Lower Level,
Central Branch, 350 West Georgia Street. Leier will be discussing the life
and ideas of anarchism’s first major figure, and how they apply to
progressive politics today.

And finally, American folk singer and anti-war activist David Rovics will be
performing on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Maritime Labour Centre, 1880 Triumph
Street, doors at 7pm, show at 8pm, for only $10 a ticket. Amy Goodman has
called Rovics “the musical version of Democracy Now!” and his fiery show is
not to be missed.
