UPPING THE ANTI: A Journal of Theory and Action
Call out for Abstracts and Articles for Issue 3

Dear friends,

The editors of “Upping the Anti” invite you to submit abstracts or  
proposals for potential articles to be published in the next issue of  
Upping the Anti which will be launched in September of 2006.

“Upping the Anti” is a radical journal published by a collective of  
activists and organizers from across Canada. We are dedicated to  
developing and publishing radical theory and analysis, debates,  
roundtables and interviews on questions facing struggles against  
capitalism, imperialism, and oppression. Our first two issues have  
been distributed in dozens of cities across Canada and the US and  
have also found their way to countries as far away as Australia,  
Argentina, Cuba, England, France, Norway, Germany, India, Kenya, New  
Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Singapore, Spain, and Venezuela.

questions document provides some background about our project and is

issue we plan to publish articles on the indigenous struggles taking  
place at Six Nations, the prison justice movement, the state of the  
Canadian labor movement, an overview of the political dynamics of the  
Canadian feminist movement, a roundtable on queer anti-capitalist  
organizing, a review of marxist theories of  empire and imperialism  
(with specific attention to the role and nature of Canadian  
imperialism in Haiti and Afghanistan), as well as a range of book and  
movie reviews.

If you have any article or interview ideas that you feel would  
contribute to current debates on radical organizing (including on the  
topics mentioned above), we invite you to submit a 200-300 word  
abstract or proposal.  The abstract should include the main question  
addressed by the article and how it relates to the political vision  
of our journal. We are particularly interested in publishing articles  
discussing and critiquing the development of revolutionary  
perspectives and anti-capitalist, anti-oppressive, and anti- 
imperialist practices and politics within the Canadian state today.  
We also invite you to send in suggestions for possible interviews,  
roundtables or book reviews.

The deadline to submit abstracts for Issue 3 is Sunday, May 28.  The  
final deadline for articles for this issue is August 1st, 2006.
