Green Scare: The Case of the Eco-Eleven

On December 7th 2005, the FBI swept seven activists into custody in four separate 
states. By mid-January warrants had been issued for a total of twelve people, with 
the threat that more would be arrested by the time .Operation Backfire. was 
completed. Accused of conspiring to carry out actions on behalf of the Animal and 
Earth Liberation Fronts, eleven people from the Northwest activist community have 
been branded terrorists by the US government and media, and communities are being 
ripped apart by grand juries and FBI-paid informants in the process.
