Critical Mass Ride and Roll
Friday, January 27, 2006
Join fellow bicyclists, skaters, and bladers for a leisurely and spirited ride and roll through the streets of Vancouver. Meet at the Vancouver Art Gallery on the Georgia Street side between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m., and roll and ride at 6:00 p.m. The ride is on rain, shine, or snow! Decorated bicycles, trailers, costumes, signs, noisemakers, sound systems, drums, trailers, and wildly modified bicycles are all highly encouraged.
Following Critical Mass is Pedal Fusion: http://www.pedalfusion.org/. A celebration of Vancouver's vibrant bicycle culture at the ANZA Club, 3 West 8th Ave at the Ontario bike route, January 27th after Critical Mass, featuring bands, DJs, dancing, movies, bike art and much more.
The event is divided into 2 parts. 7pm to 9pm will be bike movies. This is a fundraiser to help with the legal expenses of riders arrested in the New York Critical Mass.
9pm to 2am will be a dance party with bands, DJ's, and performers. Proceeds from this part goes toward another issue of The Jam (Culture Jammers magazine).
Bands and Performers: Dubfreque (Dance Band), Transgress (Fish doing live PA), Megan Rose, Corrior and DJ Bad (Dj's), Malaika Millions and Tangerine Smile (Burlesque).
Movies: Still We Ride and the Winking Circle.
Cost: $3 to $8 if you arrive before 9pm, $8 to $10 if you arrive after 9pm.

Pre-rides to Critical Mass:
UBC riders meet at the UBC Bike Hub, on the north east end of the Student Union Building, at 4:30 p.m. for a group ride to the Vancouver Art Gallery. Phone 604-822-BIKE for details.
East Van riders meet 4:00 p.m., leaving 4:30 p.m., from Grandview Park, 1200-block Commercial Drive, for a group ride to the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Celebrated around the world, Critical Mass is a grassroots reclamation of public space -- on the last Friday of the month -- which allows cyclists and other self-propelled people to move safely and comfortably through city streets in a car-free space. Non-polluting forms of transportation are promoted.
