[van-announce] Weekend protests, StopWar.ca meeting this Wednesday, Aug.9

On Saturday, there was another sizable rally in
Vancouver protesting the attacks on Lebanon and Gaza.
In London, there were 100 000, and in Montreal more
than 15 000 in the streets.

In Vancouver on Sunday, StopWar.ca and the War
Resisters Support Campaign had a contingent in the
Pride Parade and our "float" got a tremendous
response. Thousands of 'Out of Afghanistan' stickers
and general information leaflets were handed out along
the route.

A reminder that we have a general meeting this week,
Wednesday, August 9, at 5:30p.m. at the Maritime
Labour Centre (111 Victoria Dr., at Triumph). This
will be followed by a committee meeting at 6:30p.m.
for all those interested in working on planning the
October 28 "troops out of Afghanistan" rally and
march. We hope to see you there.
