What is LA SURDA?
La Surda is a Latin American Collective based in Vancouver, Canada,
focused on building and creating spaces of information, analysis, and
discussion around movements of resistance in Latin America and around
the world facing today's imperialistic phase of Capitalism; a movement
with a variety of ranges, scenarios and levels of popular struggle
against Neo-liberal measures imposed by national states.
LA SURDA also aims at promoting social resistance in the Vancouver area,
BC and Canada, against the attacks on social rights which national and
provincial governments have gradually been implementing in detriment of
the most vulnerable social groups: migrants, people of colour, women,
children, people of old age, gays and lesbians, and the poor in general.
By strengthening the means of communication and analysis circulating
around Vancouver, B.C., through forums, conferences, presentation of
documentary videos and through our electronic mail news list serve, our
goal at La Surda is to contribute towards the building of a better
world based on social justice for all.
