[van-announce] Forum on Vancouver civic politics - April 9

Since the November 2005 civic election in Vancouver, many of the
progressive actions taken by the previous COPE majorities and their
allies on City Council, School Board and Park Board are under attack by
the right-wing NPA. Social housing is being scaled back drastically,
consultation with citizens is being reduced, the World Peace Forum is
under constant attack, and a new round of cutbacks is hitting students
and teachers. This forum will hear from two speakers with wide-ranging
experience in civic politics, who will present ideas on how to rebuild
the struggle for progressive civic reform in Vancouver.
