Friends,

You won't hear about this one from the corporate media.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22ND IS MEDIA DEMOCRACY DAY.

Join the Vancouver celebrations from 11:00 - 5:00 at the downtown public library (central branch):

VANCOUVER'S 5TH ANNUAL INDEPENDENT MEDIA FAIR -- FREE EVENT, OPEN TO ALL.

A showcasing of this city's best independent media. The Fair is an annual MDD favourite, with 75 exhibitors taking over the main foyer of the library (350 west Georgia) to spread the word about alternatives to corporate news. Come and discover local voices working outside the mainstream.

What to expect? Feisty online news magazines. Grassroots newspapers. Indy radio stations. Video collectives. And more. All 100% CanWest free.

For more details about Media Democracy Day, the Fair and how you can get involved, visit our website at:
http://presscampaign.org/mediademocracyday

Also at the site, you can download posters and flyers for the Fair; invite a friend; and join our new e-bulletin on media reform in Vancouver.

HELP SPREAD THE WORD BY FORWARDING THIS EMAIL INVITE TO YOUR CONTACTS AND MEMBER LISTS.

Media Democracy Day is organized by: The Campaign for Press and Broadcast Freedom. Sponsored by: Vancouver Public Library, Adbusters Media Foundation, TheTyee.ca, SFU School of Communication, SFU Faculty of Applied Sciences. Supported by: British Columbia Library Association (BCLA), Simon Fraser Public Research Interest Group (SFPIRG), Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

KNOW THE MEDIA. CHANGE THE MEDIA. BE THE MEDIA.
