                 Protest the Policing of Poverty
                         World AIDS Day

This Thursday is World AIDS Day. Across the world people mourn the dead 
and celebrate the struggles against the disease. Here in Vancouver we will 
demonstrate against the Vancouver Police Department, whose escalating 
campaign of arresting drug users is worsening the AIDS epidemic in our 
communities.

Please come and march with the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users and 
their supporters. We will hold a rally on the front steps of the police 
station where speakers will address the consequences of policing poverty.

Speakers will include representatives from various local organizations 
including West Coast Aboriginal Harm Reduction Society, Sex Trade Workers 
Action Group, Downtown Eastside Residents Association, Asian Society for the 
Intervention of AIDS, BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, Anti-Poverty 
Committee, Indigenous Action Group, Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users and 
the Rock Users Group.
