Check it: Translink has announced that a new, armed Skytrain police force
is taking effect on the Lower Mainland's transit system. There is also
talk of installing cameras on buses and increased surveillance.
Already facing discrimination and harassment before this announcement, the
implications for youth (especially youth of colour, low-income youth, and
hip-hop headz) are serious. A coalition of concerned youth and their
allies are coming together to address this issue in a community forum,
using the medium of hip- hop, to share ideas and develop a strategy,
because
WE DON'T WANNA SEE KIDS GETTING CAPPED!
