To all BRU members, supporters, friends and allies:

All this week thousands of bus riders are participating the BRU Fare Strike: a direct action to protest TransLink's policies of high fares, overcrowding and privatization of the transit system. Bus riders are participating in the Fare Strike by taking and reading leaflets, expressing their support for the Fare Strike demands, and taking part in the civil disobedience by refusing to show their passes or pay the fare.

The Fare Strike demands cut to the core issues facing transit-dependent people in our fight for a transit system that meets the needs of our communities:

  a.. Lower the Fares Now! More Clean Air Buses! 
  b.. Safety Now: Reduce Overcrowding, Increase Service! 
  c.. Justice for Riders: No Racial Profiling, Disband the SkyTrain Police Force!
