                  PEOPLES INQUIRY INTO POLICE VIOLANCE
                  Panel discussing ‘Policing Poverty’

The People’s Inquiry into Police Violence series continues this week with
a panel discussing ‘Policing poverty’.

Presentations will be made by the Bus Riders Union, who will discuss the
economic inequality within public transit and the increased policing on
Skytrains and the criminalisation of transit riders.

The president of the Vancouver Area Network Of Drug Users will speak to
the brutal reality of the VPD’s policing of the Downtown Eastside.

An APC organiser will outline the economics and politics of increasing
police budgets and intensifying violence.

Next Wednesday, the Peoples Inquiry will have a panel discussing ‘Police
Violence and Complacency against Women’ with speakers from Women Against
Violence Against Women, Justice for Girls, No one is Illegal and women
involved in the sex trade.

All forums take place at 16 east Hastings (beside the DERA office) and
begin at 6:30pm.  Childcare is available.
