Canadian Refugee Camp at Langara
"Shattering the myth of Canadian multiculturalism and humanitarianism"

Langara Student Union Building
Monday March 21- Wednesday March 23 All day
with Speakers from No One is Illegal Monday March 21 @ 2:30 pm

Hosted by Langara Students Union

The Canadian Refugee Camp has been constructed by ten immigrant and
refugee organizations in Vancouver involved in historical and present
struggle against racist border and immigration policies.

The Refugee Camp highlights well known policies in Canadian immigration
history such as the Chinese Head Tax, the internment of
Japanese-Canadians, the "None is too Many" policy for Jewish refugees, and
the exclusion of South Asian migrants on the Komagata Maru; a history
thatis repeating itself with the "War on Terrorism". The Camp also draws
links between Canadian corporate and state policies against indigenous
peoples and Third World peoples that are the roots causes of war,
displacement and migration.

TO mark March 21 International Day for the Elimination of Racism, the
Refugee Camp is being hosted as part of the Native Student Center's week
of events and strengthens the alliances between immigrants of colour and
indigenous people fighting war, poverty, displacement and racism within
the colonial borders of Canada.

The No One is Illegal campaign is in full confrontation with Canadian
colonial border policies, denouncing and taking action to combat racial
profiling of immigrants and refugees, detention and deportation policies,
and wage-slave conditions of migrant workers and non-status people.

We struggle for the right for our communities to maintain their
livelihoods and resist war, occupation and displacement, while building
alliances and supporting indigenous sisters and brothers also fighting
theft of land and displacement.
